There are mini-tsunamis every day that happen in hospital beds, operating rooms, living rooms and jail cells. We are overwhelmed and swept away by events often out of our control, with no time and no place to run and hide.
It is usually a very personal thing, not at the scale of millions of people all at once.
No matter if it is one or millions, we need a life preserver when the tsunami hits. Someone to cling to when we are drowning.
Or we are lost forever.
